Beautiful Manicures Start at Home

Keep your nails looking great and make your manicure last longer by incorporating these 5 healthy habits into your routine:

1. Absolutely NO Biting - Don’t bite your nails, don’t bite your hangnails, and don’t bite your cuticles. To prevent infection, use sanitized nail clipper and nippers to trim your nails and hangnails weekly. If your cuticle is beginning to bother you, use a cuticle pusher.

2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate - Apply cuticle oil and organic lotions frequently to keep your hands and nails looking refreshed and hydrated. In addition, drink plenty of water because dry hands and nails can be an indication that something might be going on internally.

3. Smooth the Surface with a Nail File - If you break or scrape a nail, use a nail file to smooth the surface. We often want to bite our nail when they break so keep a nail file handy in case of emergencies.

4. Eat Biotin and Protein-Rich Foods - As we mentioned before, our hands and nails can tell us if something might be off internally. Eating biotin-rich foods such as eggs, beans, bananas, peanuts and salmon can help strengthen your nails. In addition, protein-rich foods can also help strengthen your nails.

5. Don’t Skip Your Vitamins - B9 supplements or folic acid are a natural boost for your nails and zinc can help prevent brittle nails. Incorporating these supplements into your daily diet will make your nails very happy.
